In 1874, the 1st Vienna Südbahnhof was replaced by the 2nd Vienna Südbahnhof, a magnificent building that made history in Austrian railroad architecture. At the time of its construction, the track hall was the largest in the monarchy: 166 meters long and 40 meters wide.
